Will Leeds United finally be a force to be reckoned with

At the end of the 2014-15 season it seemed to be business as usual at Leeds United. Confusion over the head coach's position and rumours of take-over bids made every Leeds fan dread opening up their browsers in the morning. Many fans and pundits attribute this state of affairs to the antics of the owner, Massimo Cellino, and recent media reports have only increased his negative PR image.

It looked increasingly likely that deja vu would be happening this summer. The Cellino circus was back after a brief hiatus.

But we must forget that car crash of a press conference over a week ago, which was probably the most surreal I've ever witnessed. Cellino is a maverick and any signs of him changing his ways appeared to be shattered with that performance. However, there is a semblance of hope in the form of Adam Pearson. A Leeds man and a link to the semi-glory days of the late 90's, there are signs that he has began to tame the eccentric Italian.

Pearson has clout and it seems that Cellino has taken notice. Indeed, I think that Cellino HAS realised that he needs to change and appointed Pearson to make sure that he stops him carrying on making a fool of himself. The eccentric businessman knows he is flawed but I think he has either been told to get someone to keep him in check, or he has seen the light and done it himself. I see this as a positive thing for Leeds United.

Cellino's non-appearance is an indication that Pearson's magic has already begun. He obviously has the guts to stand up to Cellino and I assume told him not to turn up to the conference introducing our new manager, Uwe Rosler. Is Cellino finally getting it? I think so. Pearson's appointment could be the most significant signing for next season. Cellino needs to to take a back seat and let his staff get on with what they know best. This way he will reap the benefits of his investment when these people will help steer Leeds back into the Premier League.

The changes that are coming behind the scenes are a welcome development. A sporting director and a club secretary will soon be appointed and they will attract decent salaries. Cellino is finally getting it. Invest the money wisely and get what you pay for. Leeds have seemed to be run on the fly for so long now, but this time the club will hopefully be run properly.

As for Rosler, well who knows. It's wrong to judge him now and we must see how the summer progresses. He will be judged with the staff he brings in and, more importantly, how his signings fare with the pressure of playing for our club. That's the key. We've seen plenty of players fail the test and leave the club with shattered reputations.

I am much encouraged by what Rosler said at his conference. The mere mention of Jorgen Klopp raised my spirits and filled me with hope. Yes please, let's play the Klopp way! I always dreamed that the man himself could have been a perfect fit for our club. If we were in the Premiership, I think this would have been a distinct possibility.
