The waiting is over! It's the first sign that the Premier League 2014/2015 season is coming. The new fixtures were announce 9am (BST) yesterday and let's be honest Louis Van Gaal should be overjoyed at the opening 6 fixtures.

Last season saw David Moyes begin his tenure with three of the hardest fixtures possible in the league. Away defeats to their fiercest rivals Liverpool and Manchester City, and a disaster of a home defeat to West Brom, saw the beginning of a season of despair and disappointment for Manchester United and their fans.

Fast forward 12 months and it's the new man in charge, Louis Van Gaal. There are a couple of potential banana skins thrown in there, but in general, it's not a bad way to begin your stay in the hottest seat in property.

A home fixture to Swansea, without being disrespectful to Swansea, is an ideal opening fixture for Van Gaal. Old Trafford will be rocking on that day, a ferocious welcome is to be expected, with hopefully new signings on show.

His first taste of life on the road comes in the next fixture, Sunderland away. A team that haven't beaten us at The Stadium of Light in over 10 years. He then faces the three newly promoted teams, Burnley and Leicester away and QPR at home. The final one of the opening six being a home fixture to West Ham.

So is this a dream start for Van Gaal? It should be. Last season too many teams came to our ground and dominated the play. We were beat by the so called lesser teams. Here is a chance to put that right almost immediately. Manchester United should not be loosing at home to Swansea, QPR or West Ham, and we have more than enough in our locker to beat the away teams.

I cant wait to witness the new Van Gaal era. Hopefully he will attract some quality players to help the club challenge for the league again. Here's one for your calendar, 13th Dec, home to Liverpool........... RED ARMY!!!!!!
