Today Luis Garcia has sadly announced his retirement from football. The former Red was loved by thousands and the Anfield faithful created their own chant for him which would be bellowed from the Kop on a number of occasions…

“Luis Garcia, He drinks Sangria, He comes from Barca, to bring us glory

He's five foot seven, He's football heaven, so please don't take our Luis away”

The 35 year old spent three seasons with Liverpool from 2004 and was an instant hit with the fans. Luis was a passionate Liverpool player and still tweets often about Liverpool and his Twitter background is a photo montage of his time with the reds, including images from that fantastic night in Istanbul in 2005. He also calls himself part of International football history and part of the Red family forever.

One of the fans favourite Garcia moments has to be the brilliant goal he scored against Chelsea in 2006 during the FA Cup semi-final, taking Liverpool to their 13th FA Cup final match…http://ow.ly/sz3k6

This is also not forgetting the controversial goal again against Chelsea during the 2005 Champions League semi-final second leg.

The Spaniard managed to score 30 times in just 121 appearances and was a very popular team mate before leaving in July 2007.

Luis had a very successful time at Liverpool and contributed towards their UEFA Champions League title, winning the FA Cup in 2006, the UEFA Super Cup in 2005 and the 2006 Community Shield.

We wish you all the best Luis and thanks for all the memories......we shall never forget!
