What will Neymar add to Barcelona?

Article by e-Football Writer Mark Viales (Gibraltar)

So Neymar is set to take La Liga by storm having joined one of the
best teams in the world with many tipping the Brazilian wonder kid
to propel himself to the next level and be considered one of the
"Greats".With a squad full of World Cup winners, not to mention the
Godly presence of Lionel Messi, its hard to see how the Catalan
Giants could improve on their already illustrious set of playing staff,
although the Sensational Samba Star could do exactly that!

The Legend in the Making has shown his Versatility and is capable
of pivoting all along the 3 frontal positions in Barca's favoured 433
formation, providing several options where he would alternate with
Messi, Pedro and Sanchez with Tello likely to be a back-up player in
the frontal assault.

With Neymar's ability to cut inside with Sublime Technique and
equipped with precise finishing, he wreaks havoc on defenders as
he so eloquently demonstrated in the Confederations Cup. Every time
he was in possession there was an atmospheric sense of excitement
as we looked on with bewilderment when he danced round world
class players with ease, evoking a persona of revolutionary dominance
amongst a star studded Brazilian side.

He is more than capable of leading the line in a similar fashion to that
of Messi. As a Target man, when played to feet, there are few better
at keeping hold of the ball and searching for the killer pass. An
unexpected flick or using quick feet and many light touches to pull
the defenders out of position, Neymar has eagle eye Vision and an
excellent footballing brain which allows him to execute the unexpected
pass. This is a High Skill Set which is much desired at Barca as it
matches the overall style of play.

At the tender young age of 21, Neymar still has the Potential to improve
even though he is already considered by some as one of the best, often being
labelled as the next "Pele". He has a truly Remarkable Goalscoring Record,
racking up 160 Goals in 264 Games for Santos and the Brazilian National
side, which naturally will constitute in Barcelona expecting Neymar to make a
significant contribution in this area. This would inevitably remove some
pressure off Messi, especially when we bear in mind that he was responsible
for 39% of Barca's overall goal tally last season.

It remains to be seen whether Neymar will buy into the Barca Ethos of working
for each other to effectively close down the opposition as a high level of
concentration is required defensively to cover the space in order to crowd out
the options available for the opponent, subsequently forcing the error. A certain
level of trust must exist between a tightly knit group of players who are all working
towards the same goal for this system to succeed.
