Bigging Up Parmo’ Lovers:

Game 10- Tottenham 6-4 Reading This game really sticks in my head from the 07/08 season. I remember watching this game and one player in particular made my jaw drop. Dimitar Berbatov, in my opinion one of the best technical players to ever grace the premier league, his skill and vision was just inexplicable at times, a complete genius.

I felt particularly sympathetic towards both goalkeeper’s as there was not a lot any of them could do about any of the goals, well, apart from Paul Robinson’s ridiculous attempt at a punch that fell straight to Cisse’s feet for Reading’s first goal. The defending was so poor for a premier league match, under Juande Ramos’ rein I realise now that it was hardly surprising.

Although the game ended with Reading losing, if Dave Kitson had one ounce of a predator instinct the game could have been in double figures for Reading, he is one of the poorest players I have ever seen play. After his spell at Reading he came on loan to Middlesbrough, and just everything about him was wrong for football, he was slow, lazy and the only beneficial thing about him is that he was tall.
The best goal of the game was by far Berbatov’s third goal, to have the audacity and skill to turn a looping header, to stand your ground and just wait for the ball to do the work and slightly tap it into the net was ridiculous. The controversy with the penalty that was saved by Marcus Hahnemann that led to Jermain Defoe heading the ball in from the rebound. When it showed on replays that Defoe may as well have been on the goal line with Hahnemann he was that far inside the box.

This game had everything, apart from any sort of professional defending, this is why it’s my tenth favourite game. Goals, Goals, Goals.
