Berahino a Spurs player within 48 hours?

After a summer cull at White Hart Lane Mauricio Pochettino has money burning a rather large hole in his pocket, leaving many to wonder when and where the Tottenham boss will strike in order to strengthen his squad.

Many point towards the striking department as the main weakness in the Lilywhite side with Harry Kane the only forward player guaranteed to be at Spurs come the close of the transfer window.

Speculation has been rife regarding who Pochettino will chose to support Kane in the lone strikers role, perhaps from the bench, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Fernando Llorente just two of the names mentioned in previous weeks.

The latest to be reported by the English media today is supposed long-term Spurs target Saido Berahino, an England under-21 international, currently at West Bromwich Albion.

The Sunday Express newspaper even go as far as to say that a deal should be complete 'within 48 hours', the fee stated as being in the £15m range.

The similarities with former Spurs striker Jermain Defoe have already been noted by some and the Sunderand striker, Spurs' record European goalscorer, is still remembered fondly by most at WHL.

After 14 goals last campaign Berahino may see Spurs as the perfect move, with the role of supporting Kane allowing him to learn whilst playing a key role in the lengthy Europa League tournament.

Spurs fans - Would you be happy to see Berahino join the club?

West Brom fans - How will Berahino be remembered at The Hawthorns?

  1. I think that Spurs need a more experienced striker than Berahino. We should go for Lorente or Dzeko if still available,or if they are not available,we should be prepared to spend more money on a really world class striker. It will pay off in the end.

    2. Disagree, a more experienced striker won't want to play second fiddle to Kane or just play in the EL and cups..

  2. Experienced striker I agree, but I say do not miss the opportunity to get this boy, he's Harry's England u21 partner and will be a top finisher indeed. The two of them will be frightening up front together and get exp guy in as joint2nd/ 3rd striker...Harry could always gets injured anyhow.

  3. If these rumours were true then that would be great. But I simply cannot see Saido joining us for 15m. Not with today's inflated prices for British talent.

    1. As a baggies fan I think your spot on. It's going to take at least double that. His all round game ain't as good as kane but believe it or not he is better in front of goal. He played left wing for us loads of games last season

  4. Baggies fan which planet are you on? £30m plus for a striker who's had 1 half decent season and has known issues off the pitch? I'd say £20m would be a fair price.

    1. The same planet as where sterling us worth 49 Mil and Harry kane 40 Mil (rumours I know). This lad is class aswell. We wouldn't sell him for less. If he scores 20 goals next and signs a new contract it will be more than that

  5. I think he would be great . Just what we need. Young hungry talent...not players who have already got all so don,t need to try. Would like to keep Bobby and give him another season. He bangs them in all day in training..and for R Madrid and Valencia...so clearly has lost confidence....class in permanent and all that.
