Arsenal staying quiet?

Arsenal news is pretty thin on the ground right now. Last week the big news was revealed that Petr Cech had officially signed for the gunners, but that was widely expected for weeks so no real shock there, however it was satisfying to finally see him in that wonderful new Arsenal goalkeeper home kit for the first time!

Staying on the topic of transfers and Galatasaray confirmed the capture of Lukas Podolski from the gunners, which to me was a bit of a shame. Firstly, I'm disappointed at the transfer fee, Lukas was able to leave the Emirates for a (reported) measly £2.5m, which for a player of his quality in my opinion is extremely cheap. Secondly, I'm just sad to see Poldi go, he always seemed to have a positive energy and really kept people's spirits up around the camp, you will be missed Lukas, no one can forget that wonderful moment when he jumped in with the travelling fans at White Hart Lane after that dramatic 1-0 win!

Other than that though, there hasn't been much else going on! There's been countless rumours but that's all they are at the moment! Pure speculation! Talk of a bid for Karim Benzema has been thrown around a lot by various media outlets and the story of how 'Sanchez has begged' Arsene to try his best to sign ex QPR man Eduardo Vargas has been given the run around on social media too, but to be brutally honest there hasn't been much concrete transfer news in the past 7 days.

Moving away from the transfer topic, Arsenal's beloved Chilean has won yet another trophy with his national side as he cooly chipped in the winning penalty in a shootout against Argentina in the final, it really was a wonderful sight seeing Alexis achieve glory with his beloved Chile and he really did cause Argentina havoc in that game and it's been argued that he outshone Messi in those 120 minutes.

Finally, Arsenal's first preseason game isn’t too far away, with the Gunners kick-starting the Barclays Asia Tour against Singapore on the 15th of July, they will then face Everton or Stoke city in either the Final or the 3rd place playoff if they fail to beat Singapore (which really shouldn't happen.) With two tough BPL opponents competing in this one I think it really will be a good bit of preparation for the season ahead! After that it's the annual tournament for the Gunners which is of course the Emirate's Cup! Where Arsenal will be going up against VFL Wolfsburg, Villarreal and Olympique Lyon in a two day tournament which I personally can't wait to attend for the first time this year! We should have done most of our Summer business by then so I'm very much looking forward to a great tournament against some very good teams! Finally, it's the big one, the Community Shield against Chelsea! Cech's first return to Jose Mourinho's men and it should be a cracker! A real test before the season is underway at the Emirates on the 8th of August against West Ham, and a very good chance for an early piece of silverware!

Exciting times ahead as the 2015/16 season gets closer and closer and I just can't wait for what could potentially be an excellent season for the Gunners!
