e-Chelsea Weekly News Round Up

September – Courtois signs new deal – Thibaut Courtois has signed a new five-year contract with the club. The 22-year-old has started all four of Chelsea’s Premier League matches this season.

September – Diego Costa Award – Diego Costa has been awarded the Barclay’s Player of The Month award for August following four goals in the three matches played during August.

September – Chelsea Youth 2-2 West Ham United Youth – Chelsea led twice through Kyle Scott and Tammy Abraham, but were pegged back by goals from Marcus Browne and Jordan Brown for the visitors.

September – Chelsea 4-2 Swansea City – Diego Costa struck a hatrick to preserve Chelsea’s 100% start, after Swansea had enjoyed the better of the first half at a sunny Stamford Bridge on Saturday. Costa now has seven goals in just four appearances. Swansea dominated the early exchanges and took the lead on 11 minutes when John Terry diverted Neil Taylor's cross beyond Thibaut Courtois. Costa scored his fifth goal of the season on the stroke of half time, heading home Cesc Fabregas' corner. Chelsea increased the tempo at the start of the second period and it was no surprise when they took the lead on 56 minutes. Fabregas again the provider, pulling the ball back for Costa to score from close range. The prolific Spaniard grabbed his hatrick on 67 minutes, reacting quickest to Ramires' scuffed effort, to beat Lukas Fabianski at the near post. Costa was withdrawn on 72 minutes to rapturous applause, and his replacement, Loic Remy soon introduced himself to the Stamford Bridge faithful, finishing well from Oscar's pass. Jonjo Shelvey scored a late consolation for The Swans, but the day and the match ball belonged to Diego Costa.

September – Everton U21’s 0-2 Chelsea U21’s – Jeremie Boga scored a brace for The Under 21’s at The Toffee’s Finch Farm training complex on Sunday, as Chelsea maintained their 100% start with their third successive victory.

September – Goal of the Month for Schurrle - Andre Schurrle has won BBC Match of the Day’s Goal of the Month for August for his strike at Burnley on the opening day. Schurrle finished off an excellent team goal, running on to Cesc Fabregas’ exquisite pass.
