Oh Danny boy, the pipes the pipes are calling from glen to glen and down the mountain side, the summers gone and all the flowers are dying, tis you tis you must go and I must bide.

Pretty much sums up the feeling of the Oakwell Faithfull after another disastrous home performance.

The fans are calling for Danny to be sacked throughout the town and villages of Barnsley, the summer has long gone and the team Danny has put together is dying a death in League One.

So you must go, must go the fans have said to thee.

I'm not sure I echo that sentiment, Danny is still my hero and I trust he will eventually get it right, however, I have major concerns.

A month or so ago I wrote an article, the value of a good number 2, the article considers the coach working alongside the manager.

I'm sure Chris Hutchings is a lovely bloke, but his track record as a number 2 for many years has been disastrous, all the clubs he has been at in recent years have struggled the same way Barnsley are currently doing.

Derby County appointed Paul Jewell after Billy Davies had been sacked, what a disaster Jewell's appointment turned out to be.

Derby were relegated with the least number of points in premier league history and then started terribly in the Championship the season after, Jewell was shown the door and it took Nigel Clough years to sort out the mess left behind. Then Ipswich Town gave Jewell the chance to impress at a very well run championship side but the outcome was the same, a struggle at the bottom of the championship.

Hutchings had overseen the coaching at both of these clubs during Jewell's stint as manger.

I really wonder if this is at the heart of our current dilemma, it seems too much of a coincidence that he has coached teams expected to do well in their relevant leagues, but struggled just as we are now.

So sorry Danny, save your own neck, bring in a more trustworthy number 2 and go again.

I would even like to see fans favourite turned evil villain Chris Morgan back in the building.

I'm sure he would get some of the present issues sorted out and he has the heart of a Lion.

I cannot put the entire blame on Chris Hutchings shoulders though, Danny Wilson is a very experienced league 1 manager. He really should have known which players we required for this seasons promotion push, which begs the question... did Danny really recruit the current players.

Or did Ben Mansford just thrust these players his way, based on a budgetary requirement.

Danny should surely know that the league requires strong physical players, in the spine of his team, yet we have brought in powder puff players with no stomach for a fight.

We let go several players last year and in the close season who, should have been kept at all cost.

David Perkins , released ,after a week of Danny's recent tenure, David run his heart out week after week, he chased and harried everyone with pace guile and tenacity.

Stephen Dawson a guy ready for the fight week after week.

Jim O'Brien, run his sweat to blood.

The heartbeat of our team ripped out and replaced by nice players, without the fight or commitment that our club requires.

So who is to blame, is it you Danny or is it a lack of ambition from the board.

Barnsley Football Club, you sack a manager at least once a year and it doesn't work, is it the board who is really to blame?

Danny Wilson your favourite word in recent weeks has been conundrum.

Well what's happening at Oakwell? That's a conundrum.

  1. what was mentioned " it took a previous Manager " years" to sort out the previous managers leftover situation, So why are there " High Expectations " for Danny Wilson to produce " Instant Success " The more " Belief " we have our team, especially when times get tough the quicker our " Recovery " will be . Belief is what is " Needed " not " Doubt " so don't take away the support or things just may get worse. Come On You Reds !

  2. If Morgan is employed by Barnsley in any capacity, they can count on the withdrawal of my support.
