A Letter to Chris Cohen, On Behalf of the Forest Fans

Article by Chris Cave

Dear Chris Cohen,

I am writing to you on behalf of every Forest fan; of whom I can safely suspect all felt your pain in last Sunday’s East Midlands derby in which you sustained a third cruciate ligament injury.

Don’t be mistaken – this was not just supporters concerned that one of their star performers (of which you are most certainly one) may be out for a long time - however, this was more a feeling of empathy.

Since joining our beloved club in 2007, you have displayed commitment, passion and pride in wearing the famous garibaldi every single time you have pulled it on.

You have shown what a quality player you are with an incredible range of passing and given us some memories to savour with a number of fantastic goals in your performances with the club.

But most of all, you have connected with us. You have demonstrated what an honest, humble and genuine person you are on and off the field, and have built up a bond with us, the supporters, that many a football player I’m sure would envy.

The fact that you care so much about our club, appear so proud to be representing us, and are the model professional in all you do, is why we were all so distraught with the news of the injury you suffered at the weekend.

We shall be supporting you throughout the whole of your rehabilitation and know that you will strive to come back stronger than ever to wear the red jersey for many more years.

I hope you understand the high regard that we as supporters of Nottingham Forest hold you in, and, on behalf of all the NFFC family: I wish you a speedy recovery and cannot wait to see you back on the field soon,

Regards,

The supporters of Nottingham Forest Football Club

  1. what a super letter and fully, fully justified. We, as supporters, do not need telling who regards it as an honour to represent the club. Chris, has done so from the day he came up from Yeovil and he really is a special player. Very best wishes for a speedy and full recovery, Chris!
