As we all know, this summer will spell the end of a lot of Fulham careers that a lot of us will not want to see end. The likes of Dejagah, Sidwell and Riether will most certainly be making their exits this summer as interest in them will undoubtedly be high. Even with Fulham being relegated, players such as Dejagah and Sidwell have put in outstanding performances that proved they can mix it with the best.

The sheer sadness of relegation is definitely sinking in with the Fulham faithful as we see unfortunate scenes such as Hangeland supposedly being let go via E-Mail and a variety of players unwilling to discuss their futures until after the World Cup.

One player comes to mind that I feel has shown a complete lack of respect for Fulham and that player is of course – Kostas Mitroglu. This is the man who cost £12 million back in January, made 3 appearances, scored zero goals and is now refusing to talk about Fulham because he is focused on the World Cup. Now, I totally understand that there should be a focus on a players World Cup as it looms nearer. However, since January there seems to be no indication that Mitroglu has had any focus on Fulham’s fight for survival. Something I think is highlighted by the rumours that he was fully fit for weeks but Magath did not see any fight in his eyes therefore leading to him being left out of the squad.

With these gripes aside, we must now look to what can be done moving forward and who can be brought in to return us to the Premier League at the first time of asking, This however has taken another twist this week with the news that Fulham have blocked Southampton’s approach to talk with Magath about replacing Pochettino. Now it looks like Fulham will not only need to build a new team but also find someone to take charge of the project.

With news floating around that Magath could be heading for the exit, many names have already started to fill the air around Craven Cottage. People are even putting Neil Lennon in the frame, something I really hope does not happen. We need a manager with proven experience at Championship level and although I am fully behind Magath – if he is to leave then we would need to replace him with a Manager who knows the lower leagues inside out. Who that is, I could not say – But I am sure we will see a very different Squad and Management bench before the season begins.

  1. A mass clear out was needed. I believe we need to keep hold of Dejagah as he was one of our best players last season. I find it strange how Mitroglu struggled for fitness when bought and make the Greece world cup team with ease.

I have my faith in Felix but as long as we are seeing results on the pitch, if not I will expect him to be gone by Christmas.

    Well written article though.
