Our great escape was not to be and Norwich will head into their final game of the season knowing only a miracle, or a legal battle with Sunderland, will keep them in the top flight.

The situation is Norwich need West Brom to lose badly to Stoke, while the Canary’s beat Arsenal by a ridiculous margin, probably in the region of 15-0.

As much as we would like this to happen, it is not going to and Carrow Road will be hosting Championship football next term.

Over the following weeks there will be much analysis, including from this blog, of where it all went wrong this season, but for now it is only fair to focus on the final day.

With there being essentially nothing at stake for either team, with Arsenal secure in fourth and with an FA Cup final to consider, it is difficult to know exactly what to expect.

You would like to believe Norwich will at least try to go out with a bang and get a win for the sake of the long-suffering Y’Army faithful and to get a first victory for Neil Adams.

Simultaneously, it is hard to see Arsenal fielding a strong team as they look to end their silverware drought the following weekend.

Anthony Pilkington, Joseph Yobo and David Fox have not trained this week, but there is the possibility of Elliott Bennett returning to the side.

Predicted Line-Up – Ruddy, Whittaker, Martin, Bennett, Olsson, Howson, Tettey, Fer, Snodgrass, Redmond, Hooper
