Sheffield United: Latest from the Lane

Article by Sheffield United Correspondent Sam Attrap

New strike force may be tested against Colchester; Could Aidy White become Clough’s first signing and MacFadzean appears in court.

New strike force

Nigel Clough could look to Chris Porter and Shaun Miller to lead the line in this weekends FA Cup fixture against Colchester United.

Porter, who has recently returned from a loan spell with local rivals Chesterfield, was Nigel Clough’s first signing at Derby County. The target man could find himself, once again, in Clough’s plans if he can produce some form.

Shaun Miller will also hope to start his first game this season. After playing 90 minutes for the U-21’s, scoring 2 goals, the forward will hope to put 10 months on the side-lines behind him.

Aidy White

Nigel Clough will ask Leeds United if they will allow Aidy White to play in this weekends FA Cup tie. It is thought Leeds will not allow White to play to avoid him becoming cup-tied. However if the Blades make their longer-term interest clear then it could persuade the Yorkshire rivals.

Speaking before the game against Colchester, Clough revealed: “We haven’t ruled-out trying to do something beyond January.”

If White is cleared to play, I would not be surprised if he becomes the new managers’ first permanent signing in January.

MacFadzean in Court.

Blades winger Kyle MacFadzean has appeared in court and admitted two counts of assault.

It is understood that a man was caught on CCTV slapping one woman and then head-butting another.

MacFadzean, 19, has been issued with a 12-month community order.
