Are Celtic lacking in the dugout as well as on the pitch?

Article by Celtic Correspondent Rory Higgins

There has been talk all season of Celtic’s lack of firepower, not just in Europe but also the SPL this year, but my question is the inability to score not just on the pitch?

Now no one can fault what Neil Lennon has achieved in the last couple of seasons or since he took charge, every manager has their ups and downs. But, if you were you to choose one person to coach your strikers, my guess would be that Neil Lennon would be somewhere near the bottom of that list.

Celtic have an experienced backroom team but it’s hardly full of experienced goalscorers. In my opinion, one place where Celtic need to strengthen is on the coaching staff. It has various coaches that all have previous experience of there positions. You have Johan Mjallby - a great Centre Back in his time and has done very well with the defence. Then there's Neil Lennon - played all his career in Centre Midfield so can pass his knowledge on there. But who can coach the strikers?

I think if Celtic want to improve their goal ratio it’s not just new forwards they need but someone to nurture them, someone who once knew where the onion bag was. With John Hartson and Chris Sutton both currently out of work, both of whom played with Neil Lennon at Celtic, I think it’s about time Lennon picked up the phone and gave one of them a call.
