SERIE A PREVIEW - Round 8

Article by Daniel Pisani

After the International break the league is back in full swing with some mouth watering clashes which include AS Roma hosting SS Napoli and Fiorentina hosting Juventus.

AS Roma have really impressed and although it is rather early to talk about their scudetto claims it's hard to ignore the form they are in. Before they away demolition of Inter Milan I thought to myself that once they play a top 4 side they may crash back down to earth but instead they travelled to Milan and beat Inter convincingly 3-0.
So this is the next big test for them and what a test it will be going up against Rafa Benitez and his Napoli outfit.

My prediction for this one is a tight Roman win.

Up north we then travel to Florence where the purple brigade are playing host to Juventus who are in a slight form slump so this is the perfect time to face them. Now these clubs dislike each other which adds even more flavour to this round 8 fixture. Juve will be without influential strikers Vucinic and Quagliarella. Also there are whispers that Vidal might be in doubt.

Fiorentina will have Rossi raring to go after his recent return to the national side and be looking to impress further to make his national presence known.
Prediction for this one is a 2-2 draw as I don't see any of them losing this one.

Other games this weekend are as follows:

Cagliari v Catania - (this match has draw written all over it)

AC Milan v Udinese - (AC need to kick into gear but wouldn't be surprised with Udinese taking the 3 points here)

Atalanta v Lazio - (Lazio need a win to stay in touch with the top so I expect a comfortable win)

Genoa v Chievo Verona - (Genoa will win this in a tight match although Chievo is strong, I just don't see them scoring)

Hellas Verona v Parma - (I'm looking at Luca Toni and Hellas having a big game here and beating Parma comfortably)

Livorno v Sampdoria - (This one is a no brainer, Livorno will win and win well)

Sassuolo v Bologna - (Bologna are in trouble and have struggled this year so i see that continuing and Sassuolo to get the 3 points at home)

Torino v Inter Milan - (Time to pick the upset of the week and that is Torino to beat Inter 2-1)

Next week I will do a review of the Round 8 fixtures as well as look into how Italy have travelled in their Brazilian World Cup adventure. I will also preview the upcoming Champions League matches the Italian sides as Napoli travel to Marseille, AC Milan host the might of Barcelona and Juventus travel to the Spanish capital to take on Real Madrid.

Till then enjoy this weekends action!
