Peterborough United vs. Sheffield United: e-Football Preview

Blades look to win as Caretaker Boss steps aside

The Blades take on the Posh tonight hoping to secure their first back-to-back wins this season.

However the vacant managerial position at Bramall Lane may overshadow the occasion, if suggestions of precluding discussions with a new boss are fruitful. It is looking likely; bookies favourite and ex-Derby manager Nigel Clough was seen at Crewe’s previous home game – the team who the Blades, incidentally, play next.

Likewise, indications from current caretaker, Chris Morgan that tonight’s fixture will be his last, would corroborate reports that the new man is forthcoming. Keen to train his sights on the Posh, Morgan is expected to keep faith in the experienced side that won the Blades first match in eleven against Port Vale.

It was captain Michael Doyle who won the game with a powerful drive from distance, but the Blades will have to do much better having only beaten teams with 10 men so far this campaign, leaving them in 20th. But Doyle is focussed on improving - "It`s been disappointing, but Saturday was just a relief. It was great for the players and supporters. But there`s no point dwelling on that, we now need to kick on and grab as many points as we can.”

Meanwhile Posh are flying high at the other end – winning 6 of their last 8 – and will be confident of a victory over a side that hasn’t won away from home this season. Grant McCann and Mark Little will be hoping to prove their fitness in time for tonight’s fixture.

Whilst the Blades who may opt to field an unchanged line-up, are still without Jose Baxter and long term injured Diego De Girolamo.

Predicted line-up

Long

McMahon, Maguire, Collins, Hill

Flynn, Doyle, McGinn, Brandy

King, Taylor

Prediction: Peterborough United 1-1 Sheffield United
