e-Football Player Profiles - Pedj Bojic, Sydney FC

Article by e-Football A-League Correspondent Stivie Krstanoski

Player Profiles - Pedj Bojic, Sydney FC.

As a part of my countdown to the A-League season, I will be doing a weekly player profile. This week I was lucky enough to catch up with new Sydney FC defender, Pedj Bojic.

Bojic, who had a big role in the Mariners championship winning side was snapped up quickly by the former champions Sydney FC. With his experience and winning mentality, he plans on making an immediate impact in his home town. It wasn't an easy decision, leaving the champions. However, the stress of travelling up and down from the Central Coast every day finally took its physical and mental toll on Bojic. So when the opportunity came to play for Sydney FC - Pedj signed, and is now looking to improve the suspect Sky Blues defence that was the cause of their poor 12/13 campaign.

He thanked both the Mariners for giving him his first chance at A-League football and his faithful fans for their hospitality, then went on to giving a heads up to his new fans that he is ready to win big at Sydney FC.

So, what does Pedj Bojic bring to the Sky Blues? A stable lock down defender who constantly bombs down the right flank creating space and chances for midfielders and strikers. Well known for his stamina and physical presence, Bojic is a welcome addition to any team. This will automatically open up space for the likes of Nicky Carle and Alessandro Del Piero, and give an opportunity for "Bling FC" to give their fans what they are use too - attractive, attacking football. Bojic is looking forward to playing alongside Del Piero, joking that the real reason he signed for Sydney was so he wouldn't have to defend against the legendary Italian any more.

When I asked Pedj, if he could spare some time to answer questions for the fans he immediately responded. Once again showing he is a class act.

When asked, What is your favourite moment as a football fan? Pedj responded "Just enjoying the atmosphere of a game" with that being said, surely he will be looking forward to his first Sydney derby against the minor premiers, Western Sydney Wanderers.

I went on to ask, What was your best moment as a player? "I would have to say winning the A-League grand final" a no brainer really, Bojic was a part of the team that finally broke the finals hoodoo. Ending a run of 3 finals defeats with a commanding 2-0 victory against the Wanderers.

After ending a successful 5 year spell, we all wanted to know what is Bojic most looking forward to, now that he has signed for the Sky Blues? "Happiness, playing great football and winning everything!" A signal of intent to be a big dressing room factor, as Sydney FC look to rebuild. "I'm a Sydney boy and it feels right to be playing with Sydney FC. It feels like home. I can't wait to start pre-season training and do whatever I can to get Sydney FC back to the top of the A-League, where it belongs."

Anyone who has played before knows the only thing that makes training fun, is the banter from team mates, so I asked - Out of every player you have ever played with, who had the best dressing room banter? "I have to give it to Musti Amini, just 'cause it's him!" will be interesting to see if that answer changes after a full season with Sydney!

Being brought in to help fix a poor defence, I had to ask Bojic as a defender, who was the hardest opponent you have come across? "Kevin Philips. He was fast and a clever player with a great eye for goal." I was sure he was going to say "Del Piero" but maybe he doesn't want to give the Icon too much of a big head pre-season!

With the A-League All-Stars set to face Manchester United, I had to ask - Do you like the idea of the All-stars game every year? "Yes. I think it's a great opportunity for us players to play against the best in the world - A chance to show Australia that the A-league has a great standard of football." Hopefully, show the world that the A-League is on the rise.

Finally, to conclude the interview I asked outside of football, what sports or hobbies do you have? "Well, I have my own personal training business and my own clothing label A-list Limited." Bojic a big fan of all things fitness and mens fashion - commits his time around his training schedule to run his two businesses. I have to say, I am a big fan of A-list Limited in it's early stages - keenly waiting for it's full launch.

Make sure to follow both Pedj, and A-list Limited on Twitter - @Pedjbojic & @Alistlimited.

So there you have it, the first of many player profiles for the upcoming A-League season. Sydney fans, I can tell you now - fortunes will change this season and Pedj Bojic will be a big part of that!
